About the Department

Established in 1960, the Department of Physics is committed to excellence in education, research, and the advancement of knowledge in the physical sciences. We offer a dynamic and supportive environment where students engage with cutting-edge experimental and theoretical work across a range of fields. These include Condensed Matter Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Material Science, Optics, Atomic and Molecular Physics, Nuclear Physics, Cosmology, Astrophysics, Quantum Optics, Nonlinear Dynamics, Statistical Physics, Electronics, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence.
Over the years, our department has consistently produced highly skilled physicists who contribute to scientific advancements both nationally and globally, making notable contributions in various fields. We offer undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs designed to provide students with technical expertise, critical thinking skills, and a strong ethical foundation to excel in today’s rapidly evolving world.

  Welcome to the Department of Physics at RKMRC, Narendrapur. As Head of the Department, I’m proud to lead a team of talented faculty, motivated students, and passionate researchers, all dedicated to advancing the frontiers of physics. Our department thrives on a dynamic learning environment that combines academic rigor with practical application.
Whether you are an undergraduate starting your academic journey, a postgraduate student engaged in advanced research, or a faculty member pushing the boundaries of scientific inquiry, you will find a place here to grow and excel. Many students pursue higher studies after completing their B.Sc. in computer science, opting for M.Sc. programs at prestigious institutions like Jadavpur University (JU), Calcutta University (CU), Kalyani University, CMI, and RKMVERI.
