    DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH

About the Department

The Department of English is dedicated to making literature courses relevant to contemporary issues while fostering sensitivity to cultural and social contexts. We emphasize the development of critical reading, writing, and analytical skills, preparing students for both academic research and the job market. Our progressive curriculum supports students as they transition from BA to MA and pursue further opportunities in competitive examinations for government services, management programs, B.Ed, or Ph.D. Our inclusive and pluralistic approach ensures a classroom experience that connects global perspectives with local realities, enriching the educational journey. Join us in exploring the profound world of literature with a sense of humor and sensitivity.

Perspective

1. Inclusivity
2. Plurality
3. Context sensitivity: Global but anchored local
4. Connecting here with there, the classroom with society.

Objective

 Following UGC guidelines to
  • make literature courses more relevant to the present times,
  • make students intensely sensitive to cultural and social issues, texts and discourses.
  • upskill their reading, writing and analysing skills.
  • Train them for either research or the job market.
